The seven Baby Steps for Lowering your Stress Hormones (and healing your mammal brain):

Step 4) Mammal Brain: Play

Now that you’ve brought the space of awareness to your “computer thinking brain,” have begun to awaken your “mammal soothing brain” by fostering your inner spiritual feelings of peace, and have begun to calm your “reptile safety brain,” your stress levels will be low enough to begin to successfully exercise and develop your stunted mammal brain on a physical level. This will take about 3-6 months. The stronger your mammal brain, the less stress hormones you will produce. The following are physical ways to stimulate your mammal brain. Continue doing the Centering Prayer or meditation along with these:

 

a) Rehab your feet by walking barefoot whenever possible and doing barefoot jump-rope, and barefoot “rack-n-track.” If you can’t walk barefoot without pain, see Dr. Campise for help.

b) Sleep in a hammock.

c) Do self massage (avoid massage oils, they are often rancid).

d) Practice deep slow breathing.

e) Get NET treatments.

f) Rehab your skin by stopping or reducing the use of soap.

g) Eat healthy foods.

h) Sleep 9 hours.

i) Sunbathe, get red light therapy.

j) Dance with friends to uplifting music.

k) Increase time spent laughing with others.

l) Spend time with animals (especially mammals), ride horses.

 

Focus on this step for 10 days to implement a plan for these before starting step 5. Review and modify as needed weekly. Step 4 will take about 3-6 months of intense focus to complete, after which your “mammal brain” instincts will be developed enough to tell you which aspects of this step to continue and which you can stop.
